Overview

Nelson Mullins, an Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for its Winston-Salem office. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting litigation attorneys and providing a high level of administrative support to a busy team of legal professionals. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice by supporting attorneys, legal teams, and client service initiatives.

A Day in the Life

The Administrative Assistant will manage attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, process expense reimbursements, and provide general administrative support across the office. This position is responsible for preparing, revising, proofreading, and finalizing correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents, as well as managing electronic court filings in federal courts, including several U.S. Courts of Appeals circuits, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. The role also supports client and matter intake processes by conducting conflict checks and opening new client and matter engagements. Additional responsibilities include maintaining organized electronic files, assisting with administrative projects, and supporting attorneys and legal teams as business needs evolve.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.

  • At least 3 years of litigation legal administrative experience in a law firm environment.
  • Some familiarity with state, appellate, and federal court e-filing procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with document management, billing, and time-entry systems.
