Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is seeking a Legal Recruiting and Development Coordinator to join our team. This role will focus on recruiting lateral associates and contract attorneys for our West Coast offices and will play a key part in attracting top legal talent to support our continued growth. The position is based in our Downtown Los Angeles office.
The Legal Recruiting & Development Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of lateral associate hiring, including drafting job postings, tracking open positions, pre-screening resumes, and conducting phone interviews when necessary. This role will manage the full interview process, ensure the completion of all pre-hire due diligence such as new attorney questionnaires, client list reviews, verification of bar standing, and reference checks, and will also facilitate the background check process. In addition, the recruiter will assist with the offer process and correspondence tracking to ensure a seamless candidate experience.
The ideal candidate will also oversee the contractor attorney process, including onboarding, timesheet management, and invoicing, while partnering with outside staffing agencies to facilitate contract attorney placements. This position requires building and maintaining strong pipelines of legal talent to proactively meet the firm’s hiring needs and supporting both internal stakeholders and external candidates throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, along with at least three years of legal recruiting, law firm recruiting, or attorney staffing experience. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Legal Recruiting and Development Coordinator should demonstrate proven success in building relationships with attorneys, law schools, external search firms, and staffing agencies. Experience with applicant tracking systems, as well as knowledge of recruiting best practices and hiring compliance, is strongly preferred. A high level of attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to provide a positive candidate and stakeholder experience are critical to success in this role.
