Overview

Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is actively seeking a Patent Litigation Paralegal for our Houston office to assist attorneys with all phases of patent litigation, from pre-filing investigations to trial and appeal.

 

This position is a hybrid role, requiring 3-4 days in office.

A Day in the Life

As a Patent Litigation Paralegal, you are proactive, organized, and capable of handling a fast-paced, deadline-driven workload with professionalism and precision. You will manage busy case calendars and docket deadlines, assist with e-discovery and document productions, and prepare court filings that comply with local and federal rules. You'll also be a key coordinator for our vendors, experts, and co-counsel; support depositions and trial prep; and organize all trial logistics. We'll rely on you for cite-checking legal documents, preparing privilege logs and exhibit lists, conducting legal and factual research, and maintaining our case databases and tracking tools.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a strong understanding of federal court rules, patent litigation procedures, and the ability to manage large, complex cases with efficiency and precision. You have strong critical thinking skills and are an essential asset in handling complex legal matters. We're looking for someone with a proactive approach to issue resolution and a true team player mentality. Proficiency in utilizing technology and a willingness to learn new software are important, along with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to enhancing teamwork, client services, and efficiency.

  • Must have at least 8 years of patent litigation experience, including active participation in at least one full jury trial for a case involving patent infringement.
  • The Ideal candidate would have a 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs may be required.
