Nelson Mullins is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team in our Columbia office. This position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including pre-trial preparation and support. Responsibilities will include gathering relevant case information, drafting and reviewing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery responses, and organizing and maintaining case files. The paralegal will also coordinate and manage document production, prepare and manage trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Additional duties involve assisting in the preparation of depositions, monitoring and managing case deadlines, and providing support to attorneys as needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle. You will need to possess well-developed critical thinking and organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, along with the ability to meet deadlines. A strong sense of accountability, ownership over projects and responsibilities, and a proactive approach to resolving issues are essential. Being a true team player and a technology pro, with the ability to quickly learn new software, is also important.
A 2- or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate are preferred, though relevant work experience may be substituted for formal education. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business demands is essential.
