The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle, especially product liability litigation.
In this role you will be responsible for performing a wide array of substantive tasks in direct collaboration with attorneys, focusing on litigation related to product liability, warranty, franchise and distribution law, as well as other complex business disputes across various industries. Your duties will include tracking and managing court deadlines for assigned cases and maintaining case calendars. You will also be tasked with preparing deposition notices, organizing and maintaining deposition materials, exhibits, and summaries. Additionally, you will track and manage discovery processes, including overseeing document productions. You’ll actively participate in case strategy meetings and manage routine communications with courts, outside counsel, and clients, handling calls and correspondence as needed.
The ideal candidate is a strong critical thinker with excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines. You take accountability for your work, approach tasks with ownership, and proactively solve problems. You work well in a team environment, contributing to collaboration and shared goals. Comfortable with technology, you can easily adapt to new software and leverage your paralegal expertise and attention to detail to enhance team efficiency and client service.
A 2- or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate are highly preferred, though relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. The ideal candidate should also have solid research skills, utilizing tools like the Internet and Westlaw. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business demands is essential.
