Nelson Mullins is seeking a Litigation Practice Assistant in our Huntington office to support paralegals and attorneys in a range of matters in state and federal court.
In this position you will perform a broad range of substantive billable and nonbillable tasks, you’ll work directly with paralegals and attorneys on complex litigation matters in a variety of industries. You’ll assist with maintaining and monitoring court deadlines for assigned cases and support paralegals with daily tasks including, but not limited to, document organization, maintenance, and production. Other responsibilities will require you to track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses well-developed critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. You have a strong sense of accountability, take ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolve issues proactively, and know how to be a true team player. You’re a technology pro and have no problem learning new software. You utilize your keen eye for detail to further teamwork, client services, and efficiency. A two- or four-year degree and paralegal certificate is highly desired, however work experience may be substituted for education. There will be the need Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
