Nelson Mullins is seeking a commercial litigation paralegal for our Raleigh office. The paralegal will support the attorneys with complex commercial litigation matters.
Paralegal responsibilities will include supporting the attorneys with litigation matters involving financial institutions, corporate, and business litigation in federal and state court, North Carolina Business Court, arbitration and class actions.
You will have a minimum of 2-3 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle. Professional will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions. Other responsibilities will allow you to prepare deposition notices (organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries); track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.
You must possess well-developed critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. A strong sense of accountability, and the ability to take ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolve issues proactively as a team player is imperative. You must also be technology savvy and be a quick study to learning new software.
