Overview

Are you a recent graduate from an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university who is considering law school or is interested in pursuing a paralegal career?  Do you want to learn more about the legal profession and have an interest in working for 2 years prior to pursuing further education or do you have an interest in getting your foot in the door to start your paralegal career?  Then look no further, as the Huntington office of Nelson Mullins, a national AmLaw 100 law firm, is excited to add a Project Assistant to work with the paralegals and attorneys on the litigation team.

A Day in the Life

Be prepared to hit the ground running!  You’ll be working directly with our Litigation attorneys and paralegals:

 

  • Monitoring deadlines and maintaining case files;
  • Organizing documents;
  • Creating charts, timelines, and summaries;
  • Performing basic research and compiling data;
  • Researching court docket using PACER, WV Circuit Express, File & ServXpress or other electronic court docket systems and updating pleadings;
  • Processing vendor invoices; and
  • Assisting with various special projects.

You’re a communication pro and recognize the importance of strong communication to a busy team’s success. You’re eager to learn, self-motivated, and thrive under pressure.

 

  • 2 or 4 - year college or university degree required
  • Prior law firm experience or Paralegal certificate a big plus
  • Experience with PACER, WV Circuit Express, File & ServXpress is a bonus
  • Please note, occasional overtime may be required to meet business needs

Qualifications for this position will include:

 

Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines;

  • Ability to keep track of many details and tasks at the same time and adapt quickly to changing deadlines;
  • Familiarity with using computers for organizing and maintaining documents and data;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present information to paralegals and attorneys;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; and
  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet business needs.
