The Boston office of Nelson Mullins seeks an IP Assistant to work with two IP patent prosecution Technical Specialists to perform tasks related to docket and practice management, USPTO filings, correspondence with foreign counsel and clients, legal research, and routine tasks as needed for a busy Life Sciences practice. The IP Assistant provides both practice-specific and administrative support and reports to the designated IP Coordinator for the Life Sciences team. This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience regarding patent prosecution requirements and is directly responsible for all U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filings as well as supervision of the timekeepers’ overall docket and administrative needs. This team divides patent prosecution work among the IP Assistant team on a client-by-client basis, and it is essential a candidate for this role can operate independently to become expert in the needs of assigned clients to maintain a high level of service and be self-motivated.
Ideal candidate has 4+ years of Biotech patent prosecution experience, preferably in a high-volume law firm environment. Candidate should have strong organizational and prioritization skills, high attention to detail, the confidence and knowledge to synthesize information and work independently, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and should be team-oriented.
