  • Overview

    Charlotte Office of an AmLaw 100 law firm seeks a full-time Project Assistant to work with attorneys and paralegals in its intellectual property practice.  The ideal candidate for this entry level position is someone who has a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university and a paralegal certificate.  Candidates must have strong communication and organization skills, be detail oriented and self-motivated, understand prioritization and client service, and be proficient with technology.

     

    Knowledge in the fields of patent prosecution, trademarks, and CPi docketing software is a plus as is prior law firm or other office experience.

    Responsibilities

    Tasks performed may include:

     

    • Assisting attorneys and paralegals with implementing intellectual property strategies and creating charts/deliverables summarizing same;
    • Creating annotated patent family timelines that apply to specific cases;
    • Performing basic patent-related searches and compiling data;
    • Supporting existing IP paralegal functions if needed due to high volume;
    • Preparing routine correspondence;
    • Researching court docket using PACER and updating pleadings;
    • Processing vendor invoices; and
    • Assisting with special projects.

    Qualifications

    • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
    • Ability to keep track of many details and tasks at the same time and adapt quickly to changing deadlines;
    • Familiarity with using computers for organizing and maintaining documents and data;
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present information to paralegals and attorneys;
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; and
    • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet business needs.
