Overview

Regional law firm seeks a Human Resources Generalist.

 

This position will be available in the Columbia, SC office.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in the following functional areas: employee relations, employment administration, recruiting, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance
  • Communicates to managers and employees about various HR policies, procedures and laws
  • Provides guidance to managers and employees on employee relations issues and concerns
  • Conducts recruitment effort for exempt and non-exempt staff positions
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR Department and services performed
  • Assists Human Resources Professionals, including the Director of Human Resources with special projects
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities, but will serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department
  • Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions and implementing selected solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; with preferred emphasis on human resources or business administration
  • 5-7 years of professional level HR experience
  • Must have general knowledge of employment and labor laws as well as HR practices
  • Working knowledge of HR systems and proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with management and staff
  • Independent judgment and decision making and strong analytical skills
  • Prefer SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
