Overview

EducationCounsel LLC, in affiliation with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, serves as a strategic consultant to education leaders and policy makers. By offering an integrated suite of services including policy, strategy, advocacy, and law, and partnering with leaders across all levels (e.g., associations, foundations, non-for-profits, states, districts, and universities), EducationCounsel helps clients achieve their goals of enhancing the quality of the nation's education systems, closing achievement gaps, and expanding access to educational opportunities throughout the education pipeline from birth to college and career access and completion.

Responsibilities

EducationCounsel is seeking a forward-thinking, well-organized, and effective professional. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the EducationCounsel leadership, handling chief of staff type responsibilities under the supervision of an Administrative Manager or Director of Administration & Operations.  A successful candidate will improve our capacity to :

  • Produce timely, high-quality work that meets and exceed the expectations of our clients.
  • Improve collaboration between team members and across areas of work.
  • Develop and maintain internal operational systems in support of team’s practice.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced professional with strengths in strategic thinking, relationship management, and facilitation, and a track record of developing and implementing organizational systems and policies.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as an advisor to the management team.
  • Support and maintain financial management systems to ensure operational excellence and maximum allocation of resources, including billing, collections and tracking financial goals.
  • Provide input in the team development, including the hiring process, professional development, evaluations and ongoing support of the team.
  • Help to create and support an environment that supports the mission and vision of the organization and includes systems and supports so that team members can achieve desired outcomes;

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including experience supporting leadership, strategic planning and managing multiple complex projects in a fast paced setting.
  • Experience or background in education policy preferred;
  • Ability to quickly build trust and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Effective writing and communication skills.
